Hausa, Igbos in Kafanchan resolve to partner security agencies on peace building

ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2016

Kafanchan The Hausa and Igbo communities in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on Monday resolved to partner security agencies to fight crime and other social vices in Kafanchan and its environs. The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the two communities held at the Igbo community town hall in Kafanchan.

The meeting was chaired by Alhaji Kabir Kasim, Deputy Chief Imam of Jema’a. Kasim who said that other tribes in Kafanchan would be involved in the partnership to achieve maximum success, stressed that it was the responsibility of all to support security agencies. This, he said, was critical to rid the society of criminal activities and promote peace.

In his remarks, Mr Martin Okoli, President, Igbo community in Kafanchan, advised residents to remain law abiding. He also advised them to inform security agencies of suspicious movements, by any individual or group, capable of threatening existing peace in the area. Chief Chibuze Akpu, representative of the Igbo community in Fantswan chiefdom, in his remarks, urged youths in the area to shun all actions that would tarnish their image and hamper societal development.

A similar meeting was held by the two communities in August, following rumours of a planned attack on the Igbo community in the area.
